Description
Up for bid today is this beautiful original Dayak Headhunter Indonesia Borneo Tribal Mandau Knife Sword and Sheath, with a blade measuring 21 inches. The handle is a piece of carved and painted antler.
The 22 1/2” scabbard is painted wood decorated with teeth and what appears to be horsehair, which itself is in very delicate condition. A claw and a small tightly wound piece of leather have fallen off the piece, but have been retained. A second smaller sheath has been integrated into the scabbard. A smaller second blade is included, but unfortunately the handle is missing.
This Kris was purchased in Bali in the 1940’s.
