The additional feature to these kits is There is an installed Crystal exchange seat so you can change freqs with a simple Crystal change.
Plus there is an onboard piezo for listening to your keying which can be shut off with a shorting pin.
The transceiver is completely assembled in the USA.
I can not lend any advice on mods or assembly techniques or reasons for this or that, I have tested on the receive and transmit sides with all Crystals.
Only power these with very very very smooth 12 VDC .
